Cost of Living Help for Families

Hillshott works with a number of partners across the local community to help families with the cost of living rises.

In the first instance families are welcome to contact the school office for help; ring us, email us or just pop in for a chat.

We offer help with;

Best Before Cafe - a local initiative based in Letchworth Town Centre. The team rescue food from supermarkets to share with the community, meaning food that is perfectly edible doesn't end up in the bin.

Free School Meals - whilst all children are eligible for a free school meal via the Universal Free School Meal initiative offered by the Department for Education, some families may also be eligible for Pupil Premium Funding. This is an additional grant for schools for families on certain means tested benefits. We use these funds to assist eligible families with the cost of trips, clubs, uniform and additional learning initiatives.

During school holidays Pupil Premium Families also receive supermarket vouchers to help towards the costs of lunches.

You can check if you're eligible via the HCC website using the below link. Alternatively please contact the school office for assistance.

Letchworth Food Bank - families looking for assistance with food and / or energy can apply for a referral to the Letchworth Foodbank. Please speak to the school office so we can make necessary arrangements.

Uniform - pre-loved uniform is always available via the Uniform Bank based at Letchworth Garden City Church on Icknield Way in Letchworth and via regular school pop-up events. Please contact the school office for more information
